Lafayette at Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Columbia QB Sean Brackett threw for 179 yards, ran for 105 and was involved in four TD's as Columbia beat Lafayette 42-28, snapping Lafayette's eight-game series win streak. Columbia outscored the Leopards 21-11 in the second half, dominating time of possession and the field position game.
The Leopards won the opening toss and took the ball. Starting at their own 21, Lafayette moved quickly to the Columbia 20. A bad snap on first down resulted in a 19-yard loss and the Leopards settled for a 32-yard Davis Rodriguez field goal. Columbia answered, covering 58 yards before Brackett hit Kurt Williams for a 28-yard TD.
On their next possession, the Leopards started at their 37 after a 26-yard kick return. They scored on a fake reverse to Jet Kollie that allowed Kyle Hayes to reel in a 34-yard TD from QB Ryan O'Neil. Lafayette led 10-7.
Early in the second quarter, with the ball at the Columbia 38, O'Neil was intercepted by Alex Gross who returned it 69 yards for a touchdown and a 14-10 Columbia lead. O'Neil responded and led the Leopards on a 60-yard drive. A 24-yard pass to Rudolph allowed Lafayette to re-take the lead 17-14 at 7:05.
A 54-yard Columbia kick return set up the go-ahead score. The drive started at the LC 36-yard line. Bracket found Zack Kourouma for a seven-yard TD. Columbia led 21-17 at the half.
Another lengthy kick return, this time a 38-yarder, started the second half. The Lions scored on a fake reverse when Brackett to hit Andrew Kennedy for a 29-yard score and a 28-17 advantage on their way to a 42-28 final.
