Lafayette at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, NY. (09/24/11) - Miguel Maysonet ran for 194 yards and four TD_s as Stony Brook pulled away for a 37-20 win over Lafayette. Leopard QB Andrew Shoop threw for 400 yards and two touchdowns, the first Lafayette player since 2003 to throw for 400+ yards. TB Ross Scheuerman racked up 303 yards of total offense, including 90 on the ground, 69 in the air and 144 in kick returns while wide receiver Mitch Bennett made 10 catches for 135, both career bests.
Lafayette was in control in the first half, but only had two Austin O_Brien field goals to show for it, going to the locker room tied at 6-6.
It took Stony Brook two plays to score in the second half. Runs of 25 yards and 35 yards by Brock Jackolski and Maysonet put it in the endzone for a 13-6 lead. The Stony Brook defense took its turn on the next possession. Jawara Dudley sacked Shoop who fumbled. The Seawolves used five running plays to punch it in, the final rush a one-yard scurry by Maysonet to leave the score 20-6 with 10:23 in the third.
The Lafayette offense responded when Shoop hit Bennett for 52 yards and a score. Stony Brook led 20-13 with 8:17 left in third.
Trailing 23-13 with 12:25 left, Lafayette looked to cut the deficit to one score with a 41-yard field goal. Grant Nakwaasah blocked O_Brien_s attempt and Maysonnet_s subsequent 30-yard TD put away the game.
