Lafayette vs. Bucknell

EASTON, Pa. (10/29/11) - Amid wintry conditions, Bucknell forced seven turnovers and beat Lafayette 39-13. Bucknell_s Tyler Smith ran for 212 yards and two TD_s for the Bison who snapped a nine-game series losing streak. Lafayette managed 26 rushing yards while throwing for 103 yards. On the other side of the snowy gridiron, Bucknell racked up 299 yards and six offensive scores to go along with an interception return for TD.
Lafayette forced a fumble and scored in the first quarter. Andrew Shoop fired a 43-yard pass over the middle to Kyle Hayes to move the ball. Facing fourth down, Shoop connected with Mark Ross for a 20-yard TD pass and the early lead.
Bucknell tied the game in the second quarter with two field goals of 20 and 28 yards that capped lengthy drives. Then, the turnover bug bit Lafayette. Jet Kollie returned the ball 15 yards before being stripped for the turnover. Four Smith rushes totaling 22 yards preceded Brandon Wesley_s five-yard pass to Josh Eden for the TD. Bucknell led 13-6 at halftime.
In the second half, Sean Rafferty picked off Shoop and returned the interception 12 yards for a touchdown, part of 27 unanswered points by Bucknell. O_Neil added a seven-yard TD toss to O_Neil late in the game.
