Under the direction of sophomore quarterback Marc Quilling, the Lafayette offense put up 474 yards of total offense ran away with a 38-21 win at Bucknell. Quilling passed for 274 yards and three touchdowns and was 17-for-26 with no interceptions in his first career start. The rushing attack was anchored by the return of Tyrell Coon, who carried 30 times for a career-high 169 yards. Tight end Michael Conte added four catches for a career-best 118 yards as Lafayette improved to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in Patriot League play. Quilling was 4-for-4 on the team's first drive of the game, and the Leopards scored on Quilling's 23-yard strike to fullback Joe Russo. With time winding down in the first half, Eric McGovern forced a fumble that was recovered by Allen Whitesell at the Bucknell 46-yard line with 1:14 remaining. Davis Rodriguez was able to connect on a 20-yard field to give the Leopards a 17-14 halftime advantage. The Leopards extended their lead when Quilling found Conte on a 51-yard strike to make the score 24-14. As in the first half, Bucknell answered quickly, putting together a four-play dive that concluded with a 37-yard halfback option pass that brought the Bison within three at 24-21. When Lafayette got the ball back, Quilling hooked up with Conte again for an additional 47 yards, putting the ball at the Bucknell nine. Coon rushed twice, the second time for a three-yard score that handed Lafayette a 31-21 lead. The defense would force and recover another fumble that would lead to another Leopards touchdown, bringing the final score to 38-21.
