Lafayette vs. Fordham

EASTON, Pa. (10/22/11) - Andrew Shoop and Lafayette utilized a balanced offensive attack, and the defense stuffed Fordham on five fourth down tries in a 45-24 win. Shoop threw for 259 yards and a TD and rushed for another. Meanwhile, Lafayette cranked out 260 rushing yards led by Pat Mputu_s 116 and 65 yards and two scores from Vaughn Hebron. Defensively, Leroy Butler made a career-high 20 tackles.
A week removed from its first rushing touchdown of the season, Lafayette ran in four more scores with Shoop (8 yards), Hebron (5 and seven yards) and Mputu (39 yards) finding the endzone. Despite the final score, the game certainly was in doubt. With three minutes left, Fordham put together a 96-yard drive that ended with a six-yard TD pass that cut the lead to 30-24.
The Rams attempted an onsides kick, but Lafayette recovered. The next play Mputu tore away for a 39-yard TD. On the ensuing kick, Kasheem Hill knocked the ball loose and three plays later Hebron scored from seven yards out to run the final to 45-24.
