Lafayette vs. Holy Cross

EASTON, Pa. (10/20/12) _ The Lafayette defense picked off two passes while registering a season-high six sacks in the Leopards_ 30-13 win over Holy Cross.
The Leopards held Holy Cross to 244 yards of total offense (47 rushing, 197 passing). Mike Boles picked off his first pass of the season late in the fourth quarter to put away the game. Darius Safford_s third INT of the year came in the first half, and Rick Lyster added two sacks. Offensively, Mark Ross registered his fourth straight 100-yard receiving game, reeling in 12 catches for a career-best 168 yards and a touchdown.
The Leopards were first on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter with a five-play, 71-yard drive that spanned 2:20. Andrew Shoop connected on passes of seven (Brandon Hall), 20 and 43 yards (Ross) to set up a 1st-and-goal from the Holy Cross 10. Shoop took the snap to his right and dove to the pylon to score and put Lafayette up 6-0 after Gralish pushed the PAT wide to the right. In the fourth, Lafayette pushed the lead to 17 points. Following run plays by Vaughn Hebron and Ross Scheuerman, a play-action pass was called and Shoop found Hall down the seam for the touchdown. Hall made the over-the-shoulder catch as he was being interfered with at the goal line.
Boles_ interception at the Holy Cross 12 with 4:20 left set up an insurance score that Hebron punched in from a yard out to run the final to 30-12. Shoop finished the day 20-for-28 for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
