Lafayette vs. Marist
September 1, 2007
The Leopards opened the 2007 season successfully with a 49-10 win over Marist in the first home night game in the program's 126-year history. Senior Mike DiPaola started at quarterback for the first time in his career, filling the shoes left by Brad Maurer, and completed 10 of 16 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. The team scored seven times with six different players, the highlight being junior Shaun Adair's 78-yard punt return for a touchdown late in the first quarter. Marist wasn't able to get on the board until its kicker connected on a 38-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter, after Lafayette had already scored four times. The defense "gave up" -14 yards to Marist with junior Chris Bacon keeping the Redfoxes' offense at bay with a team-high six tackles. Sophomore Andrew Poulson sacked Marist's quarterback twice and junior Marvin Clecidor picked off a pass in the third quarter.
