EASTON, Pa. - Holy Cross took an early lead and never lost control, holding Lafayette off for a 70-63 win. A poor start shooting the ball by LC allowed Holy Cross to take a 12-2 lead. The Leopards hit one of their first 10 shots as Justin Burrell scored eight for the Crusaders to open the game. Seth Hinrichs_ left-handed drive and finish at the rim resulted in a three-point play to end the stretch making it 12-5 at 13:56. A pair of Willen free throws and a steal by Tony Johnson set up a finger roll by Jim Mower to bring Lafayette within three (30-27) at the half.
At 16:30 of the second, Rob Delaney collected a loose ball and went straight to the rack for two. He was fouled, but missed the bonus free throw and LC trailed 36-33. Delaney_s trey cut the lead to four (44-40) at 13:02 prior to Taylor Apt connecting from beyond the arc to give HC a seven-point lead.
