Lafayette vs. Mount St. Mary's
November 30, 2009
Despite facing a double-digit deficit several times throughout the night, Lafayette did not stop fighting but ultimately could not pull off a come-from-behind win, falling 59-48 against Mount St. Mary's. Lafayette, which at one point trailed by 13, found itself within five of the lead with 10 minutes to play, but never pulled any closer. LaKeisha Wright led the way with a season-high 17 points and Lauren Jackson chipped in 12. Melissa Downey contributed a career-best seven assists. Lauren Howell's three-pointer with more than eight minutes to play in the first half put Mount St. Mary's up by five (17-12) and the Mount proceeded to go up by double digits thanks to a 10-0 run that made it 29-16 with four remaining and Lafayette found itself down by 10 (31-21) at halftime. Jackson's basket at the 10-minute mark cut it to 42-36, and an Alexandra Serowoky free throw put the Leopards within five of the lead (42-37), the closest they had been all half. That was also as close as they would pull, as Mount St. Mary's worked its way back into a double-digit lead to seal the win.
