Game 17
Lafayette vs. Navy
January 16, 2010

In one of their most exciting games of the season, the Leopards capped off a brief, two-game homestand by handing conference foe Navy a 46-43 loss. It was a two-point game (45-43) with 27 seconds to play, but Navy wasted 14 seconds before fouling Melissa Downey. The sophomore proceeded to make one of her two free throw attempts and Navy's Cassie Consedine air-balled a three-point attempt at the seven-second mark to end the game. In the first half, the Mids briefly went up by three, but LaKeisha Wright converted two free throw attempts with 28.6 seconds on the clock to make it 19-18. Consedine sank two free throws of her own, however, to keep Navy up 21-18 at the midway point of the game. Wright's free throws at the 1:50 mark put Lafayette back up by one (43-42). Navy's Megan Matheny missed the front end of a one-and-one with 1:06 on the clock, keeping the momentum squarely on the Leopards' side as they held on for the eventual 46-43 win. Neither team led by more than six points and there were seven tied scores and six lead changes over the 40 minutes of action. The Leopards were led in part by Sarah McGorry, whose 16 points marked a career-high as she went 6-of-11 from the field. Elizabeth Virgin (12) and Wright (11) joined her in double figures.
