EASTON, Pa. - Twenty-eight days after letting a halftime lead slip away in Annapolis, Lafayette found itself up against another second-half charge from eventual Patriot League champion Navy. This time the Leopards fought off the Midshipmen en route to a 58-53 victory. Elizabeth Virgin scored a career-best 20 points, sharing the game high with Navy_s Jade Geif and marking the highest scoring output by a Leopard this season. LaKeisha Wright , Lauren Jackson and Sarah McGorry each had eight points. Lafayette led 31-22 at halftime, but a 10-2 spurt for the Mids started the second half, quickly slashing the lead to one. Though the score got within one point on four occasions, Lafayette retained the lead. A late charge cut the score to 52-50 with 2:37 to go and the Leopards holding possession. After a lengthy possession that included three offensive rebounds, the final put-back gave Virgin her 20th point of the day and extended the Lafayette advantage to 54-50 with less than one minute to go. After Geif hit one-of-two from the foul line, McGorry calmly sank a pair to run the lead to five points at 56-51. Navy answered with a quick deuce, but McGorry again was true at the line to close out the game.
