EASTON, Pa. - Brya Freeland had a career night with 21 points, and Danielle Fiacco recorded her fourth double-double of the season, but Lafayette was edged by visiting Saint Joseph_s, 65-57.
Lafayette trailed by one point, 8-7, at the 13:11 mark in the first half when the Hawks made the first run of the contest _ a 7-0 spurt to claim a 15-7 lead. The margin grew to 13 points at 25-12. Down 31-19 with 2:36 remaining in the period, the Leopards scored six of the final seven points of the half to head into the locker room facing a 32-25 deficit.
The Leopards traded buckets with Saint Joseph_s throughout the second half to stay within striking distance but never put more than four straight points together to gain ground on the visitors. Saint Joseph_s went 10-for-11 from the line during the final three minutes of the game to hold on for a 65-57 victory.
