Lafayette vs. Penn

EASTON, Pa. (9/15/12) _ A seven-interception performance by the defense led Lafayette to a 28-21 victory over Penn at Fisher Stadium. The Leopards forced eight turnovers in all and improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2008.
Lafayette dominated the first-half and took a 21-7 lead into halftime. Three of Lafayette_s interceptions came on Penn_s opening three possessions courtesy of Kasheem Hill, Darius Safford, and Ben Aloi. Sophomore Zack Zweizig made his first career start at quarterback and scored two touchdowns in the first half. The first TD followed the Kasheem Hill interception, and Zweizig ran it in from the four-yard line. The second capped off a 13-play, 56-yard drive with a 17-yard strike to Rodney Gould to make it 21-7 going into the half.
Jared Roberts, Colton Kirkpatrick, and Kyni Scott all added picks in the second half as the defense continued to dominate. Zweizig connected with Mike Duncan in the third quarter for his second passing TD of the night. Penn tried to take advantage of two scores and a Zweizig interception in the fourth quarter, but Lafayette capped off the game with Safford_s second and the defense_s seventh pick of the game.
Zweizig finished the day 13-for-20 for 134 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in his first career start.
